Everyday Photography and Editing Workshop {live}

On April 30th I am pushing my family out of the house for the day to open it up to 10 enthusiastic photographers who want to learn the ins-and-outs of shooting in manual, practice on a couple of models then download those pictures and learn some serious editing in Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Lightroom.

The nitty-gritty details:

When: April 30th from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM EST

Where: My home in rural Saluda, South Carolina (zip code 29138 to check distance from you) *see below

Who: Anyone eager to learn and have a good time

How much: $150

Includes: Lunch, snacks and drinks, workshop notes and a special goodie packet with $125 worth of digital products from other vendors. Also upon registering, you are given access to my Everyday Photography and Beginners editing stand-alone workshops (worth $75).

Sold out. If you would like to be put on the wait list in case someone cancels, let me know.

Need a little more convincing? Here is a peek into what I have planned for the day:

  • Basics of shooting manual and lots of hands-on camera time
  • Two photo shoots (a couple and a teen, both on-location at our farm)
  • Newborn set up demonstrated (no newborn, just the set up)
  • Tips on natural light, reflectors, speed flashes
  • Various products to demo such as camera bags, albums, reflectors, WB gray cards, props, stands, etc.
  • Intermediate level editing tips and tricks for PSE, PS and beginner tips for LR

As I tell my online workshop attendees, the more you work on getting great pictures SOOC, the less time you will spend editing. So, our day will be about 2/3 photography and 1/3 editing.

What if you are a brand new beginner at photography and editing? Upon registration, you will be given access to my beginners photography and editing workshop materials so you can start watching, reading and practicing and be ready to take off when you get here.

What if you are intermediate level in photography and editing already and do not need the stand-alone workshops? Contact me and I will give you another link to purchase that registers you and gives  you a $40 coupon code to use towards anything else I offer, now or in the future.

Wonder how 10 attendees will comfortably fit in my home? Well, it is a large farmhouse, that we renovated in a massive way, several years ago. We will lounge in the den for some of the photography time, and then use another room, which will have chairs and tables for laptops, so you can all work comfortably during our editing time. Plenty of outlets for laptops and we are wi-fi for those wanting to get online.

How will we do two photo shoots without driving anywhere? Our farm is over 600 acres, with lovely dirt roads, five ponds, several barns, old tractors and more. Nothing modern and edgy, but lots of natural and earthy!

What happens if it rains? Well, my house is pretty big and I have a ton of windows, so plenty of natural light, plus three porches to utilize. There is also a barn across the road we can shoot in and some other buildings on the farm we can probably make use off. I am confident that whether rain or shine, we will capture some amazing photos!

Would you like to see some of the landscape and potential our farm has? The images shown below are of my niece, all taken around the farm in October of last year.

If you are a photography related vendor and would like to talk with me about being a sponsor of this workshop, please submit a contact form.

  2. OH how I wish!!! SO close but SO far… seems like I am always fundraising or saving money when something wonderful like this comes along. Hopefully one day and sure hoping it is a fabulous time!!!!!

  3. Rats! I’d love to come. My mom lives 30 minutes from Asheville, which would put you 3 hours from her but I’m waaaay in Central Florida. 🙁

  4. This sounds like such an awesome opportunity. Sure wish I could join you. I can tell I would benefit greatly. However it’s not too close to me and I am not able to make a trip like that, but hopefully some day.

  5. If only I could have found a flight I could afford! But living in WY makes driving the distance a no go. Waaaaah! I wish I could get in on this wonderful opportunity. So jealous of those who get to attend. Have fun everyone!

  6. I sooo wish I could swing this… but since I am in central FL the trip would be between 8 and 9 hours (depending on the route) and with gas so high, I know I can’t swing it right now. Maybe you could do another one in the future?? With a little more notice I might be able to find someone to share the ride! This would be so fun and sounds like it would add so much for me. **sigh** Maybe in the future!

  7. OOh! OOOh!! Me! Pick me!! lol
I will have just moved the weekend before, and I don’t know if I can afford it…but I really want to!!!! I’m SO closeeeeee!!!! 🙂

  8. Woo hoooo!!! I’m in! Can you tell I’m excited???

  9. Wow…sounds like an incredible offer and time…but unfortunately I live way on the other side of the map…LOL! The pictures from your farm look like a fabulousl place to learn and to photograph. I can’t wait to see what everyone does and how it goes.

    Bright blessings,
    Kathy
