Gear Review | JoTotes Camera Bag

Written by Beckie of beckiegkengle.com

Are you in the market for a new camera bag? I’d like to give you my two-cents on a fashionable yet functional little bag, called Rose,  by JoTotes!

(pardon the silly, not-so-attractive, self-portrait in the mirror, I forgot to find a model for this shot!)

When I went on the hunt for a new bag a few months ago, I could not believe how many choices there were. It actually made it very difficult. I had even done a little survey on my personal Facebook, asking all of my photography friends what kind of bags they used. The two top choices were Epiphanie and Kelly Moore.

While I loved some of the Kelly Moore bags, they were out of my budget. I ended up trying two different Epiphanie bags (the Ginger and the Belle), but they were both too small for everything that I needed (or wanted) to fit in them without having to carry a second bag. So, I returned them; bummed that I had to start my search all over again.

One day I happened upon the JoTotes website, and knew that I had found exactly what I was looking for. They have a variety of styles and multiple colors to choose from, and their prices were in my budget! I ended up choosing “Rose” in the marigold color! It is the perfect shade of golden yellow; my favorite Fall color!

At almost 17″x11″x6″, it’s a pretty good-sized bag! I spent some time arranging and rearranging the Velcro dividers in order to fit all of my gear in there comfortably! It’s made out of a nice, soft, and sturdy faux-leather material. There is a small zippered pocket on the inside, perfect for your extra batteries and memory cards, and another small zippered pocket on the outside that’s just the right size for your keys and cell phone!

What’s actually in my bag? I carry my Nikon D700 with 35mm attached, 85mm, 50mm, SB600 flash,  Lensbaby Composer with extra optics, Hakuba CF card wallet, lens pen, extra batteries, and my CF card reader.

I love that the fabric on the inside is very contrasting to the outer material. The lighter fabric makes it easier to see your gear when you’re looking inside your bag for something! There is also a removable shoulder strap that makes it more comfortable when carrying your gear for long periods of time!

I think this is a great bag at an affordable price! Check out their website to view the other styles and colors that are available!

  5. If only it would squeeze in an ipad….

    • According to the Jo Totes website, it DOES hold an iPad!

      from the site:
“One adjustable, large padded divider for ipad/tablet” So, YAY! (and sold!)

  6. Stephanie says:

Do you use this as your every day bag, too? I have read that some people find it too big. I want a bag I can use every day AND have my camera in it all the time.
