Note for others: Everyone has played along today at the FB fan page, but please feel free to play at your blog or at Flickr and leave the link in a comment. Next week it will be here only and not at FB.
Would you like to show your editing skills or practice your editing and get some constructive criticism on it? Welcome to the first edition of Show Your Skills Saturday. This was kind of “born” over at the FB fan page for Everyday Elements, but I wanted to share it here also, for those who don’t “hang” at Facebook. 😉
For those wondering, yes, this is similar to I Heart Face‘s Fix It Friday, except I will visit those who play and provide gentle constructive criticism. Also, I plan to share some still life and nature images for play, so it won’t always be a person. Some weeks there will be a challenge to use textures or overlays. I want this to be a fun, but skill-growing event for those who want to participate.
Today I shared the image below for anyone and everyone to edit using whatever steps or actions they want to use.
Here are my plays, one a clean edit (Deep Clean) and then with two different actions, Boston and Detroit.
If you would like to have a turn editing this picture, simply click on the SOOC image above, or go HERE. To share your play, post it on your blog or at Flickr and leave the link to it in a comment. I will go visit your play and love it, I’m sure!
Head’s up though – I will provide gentle constructive criticism, if needed.
I posted it on my blog!
{be gentle}

You did a nice job, Beth! I left two little cc comments, both very gentle. 😉

You did great, Cynthia! Thank you for playing!!
I generally edit the I Heart Faces images but never get around to posting my results. I thought I would take it that extra step today.

You did great! Thank you for playing along!
I just joined everyday elements and this is the first time I have ever done anything like this…must say I am a tad bit nervous! I wasn’t exactly sure of the rules of editing. I chose to crop the photo but was careful to leave a copyright at the top right of the photo. If I wasn’t supposed to crop…I apologize. This is my play of the photo on my Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dwebber/5066360865/in/photostream/ Thank you for the opportunity to learn new skills!
Your play was lovely, Dena! You did great! And, for those reading, you may crop how you like.
Ok! Well, mine may be a little bright, but I kind of like it! 🙂
I didn’t just want to run an action, I wanted to actually do the work myself. I used some techniques I learned with another tutorial, but I am glad to have the opportunity to have a beautiful image to practice! thank you Amanda!

You did great, Kelly! I love your play!! Good for you to working through the edit steps on your own, too.
Posted on my blog!

Heather, it looks very good! I left cc at Flickr, but I’ll tell you here too. The only thing I would change is lower the opacity on the skin smoothing; she’s a tad too smooth.
Nice job!!
I’ve never tried my hand at this before. I am so new to Photoshop Elements that I feel like I’m in the crawling stage. The only way to learn is to dive in so, here goes.
