A New Year and New Goals

Happy New Year!!!

2011 sure was quite a year! I wonder what 2012 will be like??

I hope you have had a lovely holiday season and that you are looking forward to the new year as I am. Are you making any “New Year Resolutions?”

Instead of New Year’s “resolutions” I am making a list of 2012 goals. I really enjoy writing down goals, then working out the steps I need to take to accomplish those goals.

Even before I had Everyday Elements I was a goal setter. I think about it like this – if I don’t know where I want to go or who I want to be, I will find myself a year, 5 years later still just wandering aimlessly.

Having goals insures that I have a destination and a road map to get somewhere. Sure there will be some road blocks and detours, but at least I will be on the journey to get there.

The key to reaching goals is writing them down and figuring out what steps you need to take to reach them. Some goals require many additional mini-goals be reached before the big goal can be accomplished.

Personally

  • Exercise 30 minutes each day
  • Make it to church with family each Sunday (we’ve been very hit-or-miss this year)
  • Read to my children every day again (since starting EE, that long-lasting routine seemed to go by the wayside)
  • Begin a new 365 project, because I enjoyed it when I did it years ago

Professionally

  • Write and schedule three blog posts per week, done a month in advance
  • Turn Clean Edit Workflow into a workbook for print
  • Schedule and hold four in-person workshops
  • Get a separate site built for my own photography business

Have you made any goals or resolutions that you’d like to share? Leave the link to your blog in a comment and I’ll pop over and read them. I so enjoy reading others goals; they inspire me more than you know!

Note: The January newsletter went out a couple of days ago. If you haven’t subscribed yet, you can do that by clicking here. Some special, limited coupon codes are inside, as is new workshop dates, an editing tip and a free action.

  1. These are some terrific goals! Looking forward to following your 365. I just finished mine and just love looking back and seeing how far I have come. Glad to be done though too. 🙂

  2. So excited for you! Sounds like it’s going to be a great year!

  3. You know, it keeps being shown to me that I need to start journaling again. I think that will be one of my goals. I never really set resolutions, but goals seem better. I always have things in mind, but I never write them down. I think I will start. 🙂
I will make a post on my blog today about my “one little word” and my goals…check back later!
I look forward to your workshop on the 8th!
    Happy New Year!

  4. After making a goal last night to spend less time on the computer, I spent half my morning reading your blog posts for the past year! But it was worth it. My other goal is to really learn how to use my Nikon D5000 and get caught up with my digital scrapping using Photoshop – and learn to use THAT better too. So I’m quite hopeful your blog is going to help me do both!

Obviously your blog is new to me and I’m really excited! I’m a homeschooler too but my kids are teens and I work full time. Mostly I photograph family and our sports – horse shows and motocross. Thanks for what looks like a great resource of help!

  5. Love your goals and I think you are going to do great! Here are my two posts about my goal~

    Blessings and love!!!

  6. Thank you for sharing your goals! I love being inspired by other’s goals. I like the idea of doing personal goals as well as photography goals. Here are my photography goals… http://scatteredhorizons.blogspot.com/2012/01/photography-goals-1112.html
