Gear Review & Giveaway | Hakuba Memory Card Case

Today we are discussing the Hakuba CF and SD memory card cases.

At the end of this post, all of you lovely readers will get a chance to win one of two Hakuba memory card cases!

I want to start off by saying these are awesome cases! I discovered these last Spring when the case I was using had broken, nearly dropping all of my SD cards on the ground! I wanted something light and durable, but most importantly something that would protect my memory cards!

They are available in two different types; card wallet and card fob. The wallet style slips perfectly into the back pocket of your jeans (or at least in my case, jeans! I suppose not everyone lives in jeans like I do!). And the fob style can easily clip onto your key-chain or camera bag to have it handy all the time!

The cases are made with a very light, yet sturdy plastic. They have a nice latch to secure your cards into the case. The inserts are solid, made with a softer rubbery plastic, and are designed to prevent damage to your cards while they are in the case.

The prices for Hakuba card cases run from $8 to $26, depending on how many card slots the case has.

I love these cases, and can’t imagine using anything else to store my memory cards!

Now, for your chance to win one of two Hakuba memory card cases!

  1. Jodie Thompson says:

Thanks for the info on the Hakuba cases! I could not get by without my SD card case. It keeps my cards organized and safe. If I’m in a hurry or going for a quick shoot, I grab two things – my camera, and my card case.

  2. I definitely need one of those cases! I really don’t have much “gear” but I do love my lens cleaning pen!

  3. Cherie Carter says:

I definitely need one of those cases. Thanks for the info!!

  4. Oh I so need one (or 2) of these!

  5. I can’t live without my lens cleaning cloth – perfect if I need to get something off quickly.. these cases look fabulous though!!!

  6. Rochelle says:

Thanks for the info. I definitely need on of these. I could not live without my camera bag.

  7. Susan Byrd says:

I need one of these. I could not live without my 50 1.8mm lens.

  8. I’m just getting into digital photography as of last year and don’t have a lot of gear in my bag but I do know that I would have a difficult time living without my camera itself! I LOVE photography and the amazing details that can be seen in a photo and not with the naked eye!

These cases are so cool! I only have two SC cards at the moment. I’d like to get more but without a place to store them right now I would probably end up misplacing or losing them. Thank you for this giveaway… I’m crossing my fingers!

  9. Can’t do without my expodisc to help nail exposures!

  10. These look amazing!! And I cant live without my rosco lens cleeaner!

  11. I’ve been wanting a case to keep my cards organized – will have to check these out.
Since I’ve got a bridge camera there’s not much “gear” but I always try to make sure I have spare batteries!

  12. I am pretty new to digital photography. I am really thankful for the filters I put on my lenses. They have saved me from some heartache.

  13. I’d love to have one of these cases, they look great! As far as gear that I couldn’t live without, probably my 50mm lens. I love how small and lightweight it is – perfect for when I don’t want to lug a ton of stuff or a heavy zoom around with me!

  14. My husband and I are trying to make the jump from “hobby” photographers to more “professional”, all while trying to balance other full time jobs. But it’s a challenge worth investing in. I would say the most important piece of equipment is the camera itself. Oh and maybe a memory card or two ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. these look amazing! I have never seen anything like them before. I would say the most important piece of equipment in my camera bag is my camera. Without it, there would be no camera bag. I would say the lenses would be next important!

  16. Honestly, I purchased a rather “cheap” 50 mm lens a month ago and I LOVE it!! I have only had my Digital SLR Canon since Christmas and received the up to 55mm lens along with the 75-300mm (which is a BEAST!) I have ALWAYS LOVED taking photos and now I feel like with this type of camera I can take even better ones. I just started using Lightroom 3 a month ago as well and LOVE IT!! While I can’t wait to upgrade to Photoshop and such, I am very content with what I have.

All in all my 50mm is my baby and stays on the camera 95% of the time! I use the other small one for certain things, but I love the automatic blurred back ground and editing it is a blast!

  17. Pat Strickland says:

I definitely need a couple of these for my SD cards! Right now I just keep them in a pocket on my camera bag! I love EE and all of the amazing tutorials!

  18. I don’t have much gear yet but I would say my foldable reflector!! =) Thanks!!

  19. Could not love without my 50 1.8. Love it!

  20. Thanks for this review as I have been looking for a good memory card case. I don’t have a lot of gear but I would say it is my new loupe so that I can check pictures on my screen that I take in bright sunlight to make sure the exposure is correct.

  21. I couldn’t live without my handmade interchangeable camera straps I got from an Etsy vendor. Both have soft, comfy backings on them, Swarovski crystals on the latches and awesome fabrics that are bright & fun!

  22. Thanks for the review and the chance to win a case! These are really cool! I couldn’t live without my lens cleaning cloth.

  23. Love, love, love my 50mm lens!

  24. Yep… must have ๐Ÿ™‚ The ‘gear’ I cant live without? BATTERIES ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. I could definitely use this case. I’m just getting started, so I don’t have a lot in my bag right now. That said, I guess my camera is the one thing I can’t live without, but I’m looking to add lots of goodies to my camera bag over the next few months.

  26. So in need of these! I can’t help but grab my step stool for all my shoots. Not so much stored in my bag but helps me get those diff levels and angles that I so love.

Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!

  27. My favorite is my camera! I would love to have one of these – my card keeper is not that great.

  28. HighDesertGal says:

Gear that is an absolute necessity for me is my Spudz microfiber cloth. It comes tucked into a tiny pouch that I clip to my camera strap. My grandson likes to “help” and more that once I’ve found finger prints on the leans or view finder. I wear glasses and my viewfinder is adjustable so I’m not blindly taking pictures. (Unless there is a tiny fingerprint on it.) The cloth is great for cleaning the camera on my phone and my glasses. I love my multiple Spudz.
These card cases look great too. My DD often takes semi-pro engagement photos and always needs new cards and this would be a great gift for her.

  29. Meagan Thompson says:

My backups! Extra batteries and memory cards are essential for me, no matter what the outing. I am very excited to learn about these cases as I could use some help keeping my memory cards together and keeping them organized.

  30. My favorite piece of gear in my bag has to be my Expodisc. Why? Because white balance is important to me and the Expodisc helps nail it every time. Quick, easy and accurate. I don’t leave home without it! Thanks for the chance to win this cool case.

  31. Oh, these look awesome and I love that they can clip right onto my bag. I don’t know how many times I’ve had to search though my camera bag for my cards.

I guess the thing I can’t live without in my bag is….my camera. LOL. Or the camera battery.
Yeah. I need everything in my bag. ๐Ÿ˜€

  32. Those cases look great! I need to get one even if I don’t win one. Well, besides my camera and lens? I guess I don’t really know. I usually don’t need anything other than that. Well, it doesn’t fit in my bag but I take my 5 in one reflector to all my shoots. So that would be it!

  33. I cannot live without my WD40 in my camera bag, my on off switch on my camera gets stuck sometimes and with this little lubricant its right there and helps and makes my camera behave for a few hundred shots.

I would love a memory card case like these what a wicked design

  34. Can’t live without my expo disc for exposure that is right on….

  35. Jessica Smith says:

Is it bad that I feel like I can’t live without all of my gear? Every time I add something new to my bag I wonder how I lived without it. I guess if I HAD to pick one I’d say an extra battery for my camera….that has saved my behind a time or two ๐Ÿ˜‰

  36. Corry heinricks says:

Cant live without my camera! Lol.

  37. My lens pen. It is the best lens cleaner!! I love it.

  38. My camera ๐Ÿ™‚

  39. My mini reflector, I have used a few times when taking macros of flowers. Also my lens cleaning cloths. I would love to add Hakuba memory card cases to my bag:)

  40. Can’t live without my extra camera battery!

  41. I try not to get crazy with my gear but I can’t live without my wide angle lens. As my real estate photography is paying more bills than portraits right now I don’t leave home without it. I also have many SD card and would love this case- so much better than the way I do it now!!

  42. Agree w/Donna. Always carry an extra battery, as well as extra memory cards. This case looks like it would protect my cards should they make it into the washer again.

  43. Denise Hurdle says:

Well first thought was my camera! But I would have to add my 85 f/1.8!

  44. I can’t live without my camera (lol) or my bag itself! But I hope to win one of these to go on my can’t live without list!!!

  45. Other than the obvious camera and lenses, I can’t go without my lens cloth! It’s a MUST!!

  46. Nancy Edgin says:

I love the memory card cases. Im always putting them in a little zipper compartment but always worry that one will get lost, so I’m hoping I’ll win one of these, WOW! I couldnt do without my actual camera, its the most important piece!! Good luck everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

  47. My camera! Or my 50-200mm lens.

  48. I love my new NIkon 18-200mm lens. Couldn’t live without it!

  49. always have my 50mm!

  50. I can not live without my nifty 50! I tried to use my 24-70 to capture pictures inside for a while and it’s a better focal length for indoor photography but it’s just not quite like my 50!
