Love That Shot Link Up – Sept 30

My sweet friends at Love That Shot have outdone themselves this time. Not only have they created an amazing photography/editing/scrapbooking site and forum board, but they have started hosting awesome giveaways and a weekly picture-link up party.

Well, this week their link up party gets even more enjoyable because the pictures linked up will be judged and the winner receives a $100 gift card to anything Florabella offers. Now, if you don’t know who Florabella is, you NEED to go check out her site! Her actions and textures are divine! I have both texture sets and her B&W, Vintage and Color Haze actions for PSE.

I captured the shot below by placing her in the light from our front door. I opened it up and actually stepped out side for this image. Totally boring and unpredictable and doesn’t have a chance to win, but it was the first really sweet shot I’ve had of her in a long while, so I wanted to share.

Here is a pull back to show you that I am shooting through the front door. The reflector to the side helped me give a little more light.

Now, I will tell you, I am not one to enter contests that get judged because I am SO not competitive. But, to set a good example for my Everyday Elements friends and to show love to Love That Shot, I am venturing out of my comfort zone and entering.

Now, I encourage you to get out and use that camera! If you play along, please leave your blog/Flickr address in a comment and I will come visit you! And, you don’t have to have a DSLR to capture great pictures. Use your point-and-shoot or your cell phone camera. Remember that great light and great composition are main components of a great picture, regardless of the camera used.

  1. I never enter contests, and I’m not sure what kind of “shot” you are looking for … but I just did a maternity shoot with pictures I am happy with, so I would say the second shot in the first post with the little girl kissing her mother’s stomach would be my favorite. Thanks!

    • Oh, I am not looking for a particular shot. At Love That Shot, anyone and everyone can link up their “faces” picture at their blog and then one person will be judging all the pictures and the winner wins the Florabella GC. I am just participating.

Yes, that picture you mentioned is super cute. All of them are really awesome.

  2. love this shot of your daughter!

  3. Amanda,
Love your site! I loved eating lunch and swapping food and stories with you. I came home ready to learn and grow…can’t wait to work on some of the stuff you share with photography! Your family is beautiful, as are you! Love your picture on your About page!

  4. That is a very pretty shot. I like the way you cropped it! Great light!

    • Thank you, Yvette!

Actually, I didn’t crop the actual shot much. I really was pretty close up to her. To show I was shooting in the front door I pulled way back and took another shot. They are two different shots altogether. Clear as mud? LOL

  5. You did a fantastic job here. She is a very beautiful young lady!

  6. This is a sweet portrait…well done!

  7. I love how you cropped this photo. It is framed so well. Your daughter really pops in this photo 🙂 You can’t help but look at her smiling face!

  8. Oh! Love this. Your daughter is beautiful. I love the light just inside our front door too. Its like magic!
