I am very excited to be sharing about this wonderful new book I recently bought that has really got my creative juices flowing. The books is Expressive Photography: The Shutter Sisters’ Guide to Shooting from the Heart
Sitting down to enjoy this scrumptious book!
I first learned about the existence of Expressive Photography when I was visiting my friend Kim Klassen’s blog. Kim, if you do not already know, is a new member of The Shutter Sisters, and well deserves that honor, she is an amazing photographer.
I am digressing, aren’t I? I do that often, sorry about that.
Anyway, I was at Kim’s blog and saw a button about the book. I knew of the Shutter Sisters and have been to the site many times. So, I clicked through and was delighted to find they had just published this beautiful and affordable photography book.

I cannot express well enough how pleased I am with this book. First it is thorough! It covers a lot of material, man does it! And, secondly it inspire you beyond measure! Makes me want to abandon our plans for tonight and just go shooting. Lastly, after is has inspired the mess out of you, it also equips you with some of the methods used to capture the images.

Seriously, it is a wonderful book.
The book is a flexible binding, so it lays nicely in your lap and the pages are of a heavy weight and have great color. I really feel like at $19, it was a steal. If you would like to purchase one, I bought mine from Amazon, but other stores may have it also, I am not sure.
And, because I *heart* it so much, I am going to give away one copy of Expressive Photography this week! Surprise! I wonder how many people didn’t realize this was a giveaway post and clicked out before getting to the bottom. I like to be sneaky like that sometimes.

Shutter Sisters are also on my list along with Jodi of MCP fame and we cannot forget Miz Booshay over at The Quiet Life, really the list goes on and on……..i better stop I’m sounding like a infomercial!
Sitting in the recliner with the only sound in the house the clicking of my keyboard as I type. I know it won’t be long before the baby cries. I should be editing pictures but I think I may head for bed. The only time I can be productive is when the kids are asleep. Trying to do anything during the day is like running a marathon with concrete shoes.
Love the look of the book. I check to see if our college library had it, but they don’t. Hope I win!

I am sitting at a Farmer’s Coop banquet while door prizes are being given out. I won a box of golf balls (don’t golf at all) and a variable socket something that I don’t know what the h*** it is. My husband even said no one uses them and he is a mechanic and farmer. Oh, I also won a L COOP shirt that one side of my chest would not fit in, lol. Productive evening but did not have to cook and had a free meal. Last year I won Orange Hand Cleaner. NEVER WIN, but not many people there so they kept putting in tickets and this is taking forever. OH, I have my husband’s ticket while he as a board member hands out prizes, and I just won a back pack sprayer……. great for a person with back problems don’t you think????? Had fun anyway!!!
Hi my name is Michelle and I am sitting at my computor as I seem to always be at this stage in my life, streaming through page after page and website after website trying my best to learn every possible thing I can about photography, something I have a deep passion for these days, I am self taught and have always taken pictures as I had five children, but in Sept of 09 I lost one of my precious children in death. My oldest son who was only 28 and a father of three small children, I found when I was making his memorial board that I only had photographs left to hold onto and I became obcessed with photography every single moment in my life and my other remaining childrens lives. I enjoy pages and websites such as yours to allow me to learn about what I love doing , I love your generosity and willingness to let newbies like me learn from all of you. It’s Good Friday morning and I’m sitting with my laptop on our couch in our family room. I didn’t get on the computer at all yesterday so I am catching up on emails and blogs. 2 kids are playing on the computers in the background, teen daughter is still sleeping.
