Moving Forward – Trip to the Hair Salon

Small note about this post: I started blogging in July 2008, at a blog I called Moving Forward (a motto I live by). Due to my work with Everyday Elements I ended up closing down that personal blog because I just couldn’t keep up. However, I do enjoy sharing little daily things now and then, but have no place for it now except Everyday Elements. If you are only here for the tutorials, just click on out. If you have gotten to know me a bit and would like to see my trivial writing and pictures about it, please read on.

My hair (and my daughter’s) was in desperate need of some love, so I scheduled an appointment with Carla, my talented “hair boss” (you know, like “Cake Boss”). I have been going to Carla for all hair cuts and color for over nine years, since the tender age of 30! She is the type of stylist you can go to and say “do whatever you want” and she will and it will be perfect for you.

Before I left the house for our appointment on Wednesday, I decided I’d chronicle our day and grabbed my camera and away we went.

Now, we always have the same routine: I get my hair cut first, then Carla does the color and while that sits, she cuts my daughter’s hair. We have been doing it this way since baby girl was three years old, so she is quite used to it and has always been wonderfully behaved.

When she was younger she actually colored pictures for Carla while she waited, but now that she’s older it’s getting harder to keep her entertained. LOL All I can say is thank goodness for my iTouch and free wifi!

When she was younger, the foil part mesmerized her, so interesting. Now she is like “whatever.” ๐Ÿ™‚

After all the color is on, I scooch over and the booster seat is put in the chair and up Sissy goes.

Soooo much better! She was starting to look scraggly, now she looks sweet and polished. I love a bobb hair cut on her; it frames her face nicely and it’s short enough for her to keep up all on her own.

My hair gets washed and quickly dried and a touch of styling, nothing much as it’s a “mom on the go” cut. Something I do not have to do much too.

There you have it. One of the few “girl” days I get to have. All pictures taken with my Nikon D700 and 50mm f1.4 lens. All pics SOOC except for color corrections. Lights in the shop are very funky and give the skin terrible casts (I did my best).

  6. Hey good lookin’ lady. You both look so great. I don’t think there is much better than someone playing with your head and hair. I have actually fallen asleep in the chair! Your pics are so wonderful. I feel like I’m sitting a chair over. Enjoy your Sunday.
