Gear Review | Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Home

written by Beckie of

I am still in search of the perfect bag, and I have begun to wonder if such a thing really exists. I don’t have a whole lot of gear (D700 and 4 lenses). I wanted something big enough to hold my gear but also somewhat on the smaller side. I don’t want something big and cumbersome to lug around. I loved my JoTotes bag, but it was big and somewhat awkward.

I had a few different brands in mind, so I started my search, but was having a hard time finding something to suit my needs. (It’s really difficult when you’re shopping online, because you can’t touch, open, or test it out) I came across a brand the other day, that I’m not sure if I’d ever heard of; Crumpler. I started looking through their site and liked what I saw.

I ended up choosing the 6 Million Dollar Home! And I love that it came in my favorite color! It is only a bit snug for my gear (the 7 Million Dollar Home may have been a better choice for me), but it gets the job done without being too bulky.

This bag has several dividers with Velcro so you can customize the inside to fit your needs. I’m sure I’ll be playing around with it for a while until I get it just right.

It has two straps on the top flap to attach a tripod. They are connected by Velcro, so you can remove them if you choose not to carry a tripod. This was a plus for me. I was actually about to cut them off, since I never use a tripod, when I realized they had Velcro!

There is a zippered pocket on the back that is just big enough for my iPhone and my memory card case. And when you open the top flap there is a decent sized pocket in the front to stow your batteries, lens pen, and other small extras.

My most favorite feature of this bag is that I can wear it cross-body, and it has a fairly comfy, padded shoulder strap. It makes for easy, hands-free access to your gear while you’re shooting.

While I’m not totally convinced that this is the perfect bag, it certainly has a lot of features that I was looking for in a bag! And it works for me! (hopefully this post wasn’t too long or drawn out!)

  1. This is great! My daughter and I were just shopping around for a new camera bag. I.m with you…I want to touch and feel something first. But a recommendation from a friend is almost as good. We’ll check this out. Thanks Beckie! Lisa~

  2. Wow. I love this bag! I’ve had my DSLR with the stick lens and the 50mm lens for…wait for it…TWO years without a camera bag. Eeeps! It drives my husband bonkers, so I need to find a bag ASAP. Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂

  3. I love the purple! I’m more fashion minded so I look at it from that end! My only dilemma is fitting my laptop, too! I tend to drag those two conferences. But, I like this one for more of a purse-like feel. Thanks for the ideas!
