Everyday Storytellers Idea Book Blog Hop

Everyday Storyteller – 33 Practical Ideas From Real-World Scrapbookers

I am very excited about the event which is taking place on Friday, May 4th! That is the day Everyday Storytellers, an idea book for scrapbooking, is launched (with a HUGE party no less).

Why am I so excited about it? Well, in addition to the fact that it is a compilation of tips and ideas from some amazing photographers and well known scrapbookers – I am one of the contributors!!!

When Jennifer Wilson, the genius behind Simple Scrapper and Create More Media, asked me to be a part of the book I was so excited and honored. Thankfully Jennifer realized I’m not known for my amazing digital scrapbooking skills (which are non-existant), and asked me to contribute more on the photography side of scrapbooking.

My Favorite Part of the Memory Making Process

As the official “record keeper” in my family, the thing I try hard to do is take a moment now and then and capture my kids playing.

  • Take pictures of them actually playing, not posing.
  • Take pictures of what they created with those Legos or playdough.
  • Take pictures of them using their little fingers and hands to play, mold, create, read, etc.

For instance, when I saw my 8 year old daughter had made her American Girl doll a hospital bed and given her an IV, I quickly captured it (with my iPhone) because I knew she was working things out in her mind about her cousin’s pending surgery.

It’s a sweet moment, evidence of how children deal with things through play, and I wanted to record that for both her and her cousin.

I’m both a digital and paper scrapbooker – it depends on whether I’ve got digital photos or not. That means my paper scrapbooks are more historical – like what we did with my kids before digital photography. My digi-scrapbooks are sometimes printed by me or by an on-line company. And I’m way behind on both types of scrapbooks!

  2. Oh I am loving that pic of your DD’s American Girl doll so sweet. As for me I’m actually a digi & physical scrapper it just depends on the mode I’m in. Thanks so much for the chance!

  3. These days, I’m totally digital. 🙂

Like you, I totally love to get the non-posed pics and little hands playing are just the best. 😀

  4. thanks for the chance ! can’t wait to see your gorgeous collab book !

    • I do scrapbooking both ways, but am leaning more and more to digital. There is no mess to clean up when you are done. Just order your pages (I do mine at Costco) and shut down the computer!

  5. I’m both digi and paper. And I love to take those old photos out of the boxes, and scan them so I can put them in layouts 🙂

  6. Virginia Nehring says:

I’m a hybrid scrapper. Do a lot of 8 1/2 by 11 pages digitally which I print out & put in my 12 X 12 photo album. Or do a collage digitally that fits on 8 1/2 by 11 to add to 12 by 12 page. Sometimes do 12 X 12 pages (on special large Epson printer) totally digitally & sometimes just print the photos & do rest of the page with paper. Depends on my mood that day.

  7. I am a paper scrapper but converting to digital b/c keep falling behind on scrapping b/c I don’t have pictures printed when I want to scrap. Digital seems to take up less space and I don’t have to worry about pickig everything up when I am done. BUT I still have so much to learn.

  8. i started out as a paper scrapper and hope to get back to it one day, but with two little girls and a baby boy on the way, digital scrapbooking fits in with our lives better right now.
