Free Green Grass Action for Photoshop {and Elements}

Earlier this week I did a tutorial on how to make grass greener, and a natural progression from that is an action to make the process fast and easy.

Today I bring you Green Grass, a free action that works in Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements (versions 6 thru 10).

There are two layers to the Green Grass action, but you only use the mask on the bottom one. The top layer, an optional layer to make the grass evener greener, will only show through where you brushed on the first layer.

To be very clear, you edit your image, fixing any exposure and white balance issues, then flatten and run Green Grass. Use a soft, white brush over the grass and/or trees to make them greener. Then if you want it to be even more green, turn on the Extra Green layer, which is inactive after playing the action.

Below is an example of the image I edited with Green Grass action, with the extra green layer turned on but the layer opacity lowered to around 30%.

Green Grass is a free action for both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. If you have PSE, you need to copy/paste all three files (.atn, .png and .metadata.xml) into your Photo Effects folder. The action will then show up in the EE Essentials drop down category. If you have Photoshop CS, you only need to install the .atn file.

New to PSE and do not know how to install actions? Follow the action install tutorial I have for you, complete with Mac and PC video tutorials, to walk you through it.

New to Photoshop and not sure how to install actions there? I have a video tutorial for you, showing you just how to do it.

Below is a quick, five minute video showing my edit of the above image, using Green Grass action. If you are reading via email or a blog reader, click HERE to view the video.
