PRIME focus on you 2013

written by Beckie of beckiegkengle.com

Last month was the Prime: Focus on You photography/business workshop. If you weren’t there, let me just say that I think you missed out on an amazing weekend of learning and networking! We had four leaders this year; Amanda of Everyday Elements, Jill of Jill Jarvis Photography, Kelly of kellynewbury.com, and myself.

Our session topics ranged from using Lightroom and PS or PSE, business and marketing, learning still life photography, and using reflectors, with lots of other great sessions in between! This year Prime was held at Amanda’s home. It was a great location for our learning sessions and also for our photography sessions. There were 9 amazing ladies that joined us, and I do believe that they went away having learned lots of new things for their businesses and to try out in their photography sessions.

We did things a little differently this year. We met everyone on Friday evening, at a cute little coffee shop in Newberry. We had a little meet and greet with some hors d’oeuvres and coffee, and then went out on the town for an adventure. We learned a new style of photography called “love light”. It is a couples photography session that takes place at night when the only available light are the street lights. It was quite fun, and we had some great models (Amanda and her husband were one of our couples).

The next day consisted of lots of sit-down and hands-on learning sessions. This was my first time teaching, so I was a bit nervous, but I do think that I did okay. We had three photography shooting sessions planned for that evening. We did one of them before dinner on a dirt road (super fun), and the other two were after dinner during golden hour! Let me tell you, golden hour on Amanda’s farm is so pretty!

Sunday was a day packed with all sorts of editing tips and information! We taught about Lightroom and ACR, as well as had some sessions on Photoshop and Photoshop Elements!

All in all, it was a great weekend, and I am so thankful to Amanda and Jill for inviting me to be a part of Prime again!

And now onto some pictures. (I am using some templates, for these images, that I made for the Prime attendees, and I am currently in the process of designing a set of blogging templates just for the Everyday Elements readers! Stay tuned for more information in the coming months!)
